Organization: VEI Business Office Job Summary: Required: Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) Educational consultants have familiarity with state systems and associated programs serving individuals with disabilities including but not limited to the Department of Education and the Department of Disability and Aging. They supports the development of instructional programs that may include projects designed for youth and adults or used by those working with youth or adults in special education/programming or with specialized needs, e.g.. developmental disabilities, autism. Educational consultants develop informational content (e.g., tip sheets, video examples, curriculum modules) for caregivers, providers, and educators supporting autistic individuals in the home, school, and community settings. Educational consultants also participate in the provision of technical assistance and training opportunities inclusive of web-based training and live workshops for those working directly with autistic individuals. . . Part Time position will be considered, per candidate request. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop printable resources, web-based training modules, webinars and communities of practice. Plan, prepare and conduct in-service training activities for community service providers (e.g. school instructors and personnel, early intervention providers and agency staff) who serve students with disabilities including but not limited to autistic students. Topics can include, but are not limited to, special education learning and behavior modalities, social skills, training, behavior management, IEP development, ABA strategies and the use of visual supports. Provides consultation to classroom teachers and service providers to help them develop appropriate goals and activities for individual students or clients as well as improve the structure and organization of their environment and design specialized programs as needed. Participate in teamwide quality improvement activities. Required: Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES PLANNING (Intermediate): Plans work to complete projects on time. Competently handles multiple assignments simultaneously. Able to be flexible to meet changing customer needs with minimal disruption and loss of productivity. Uses time efficiently. CONSULTING (Intermediate): The capability, normally based on a specific expertise, to influence others, manage the relationship and deliver results for a client in a professional manner. TRAINING (Intermediate): Provide ongoing educational and coaching opportunities grounded in evidence-based practices to individuals and teams of parents, community providers and educators, tailoring presentation to audience needs. ADULT LEARNING THEORY (Intermediate): Knowledge of the principles and practices of providing instruction to the adult learner. Able to focus adult learning goals and the ability to direct their own learning.
