General Counsel

Its global crypto team possesses deep experience in both the scaling of new ventures and the restructuring of complex assets. Echo Base seeks to leverage operational and technical synergies across its portfolio companies to drive innovation. About The Role Echo Base is seeking General Counsel to lead our legal team. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will be Echo Base's principal in-house legal advisor for all corporate matters including but not limited to governance, regulatory, strategic, transactional, litigation, labor, data, general commercial. We are seeking a highly qualified, experienced generalist attorney with a mix of in-house and advisory experience ideally from the crypto space.

• Provides expert legal advice to the CEO, executive team, and board of directors on various legal issues affecting the company’s operations, transactions, and business decisions.
• Lead legal documentation and legal operations, instituting scalable processes for reviewing existing and new products, services, and procedures while documenting all legal proceedings.
• Advise and collaborate with various teams (Product, Engineering, Business, Compliance & Risk, and HR) on diverse range of issues.
• Stay abreast of U.S. and international laws on crypto regulation, money transmission, financial services, privacy, data security, and consumer protections. 
• Lead the company's legal disputes, litigation, and claims and collaborate with external counsel only when necessary and work to resolve legal matters efficiently.

• Lead corporate governance requirements and organize board and board committee meeting agendas and materials.

• Review, negotiate, and draft various contracts, M&A documentation, agreements, and legal documents related to the company’s operations, partnerships, and transactions.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to assess the impact of new regulations and industry developments and keep management apprised for business planning.

• Have bachelors and masters degree(s) in Law or a Juris Doctor degree. 
• At least 12+ years of work experience preferably with prior in-house work experience in blockchain, cryptocurrency and virtual asset industry. 
• Strong work ethic and multi-tasking ability with aptitude in problem-solving.
• Excellent drafting, communication and negotiation skills and willingness to work under tight deadlines and pressure.
• Highly motivated and able to function successfully in a remote though highly collaborative setting.
