HVAC Technician, Facilities

Tesla is seeking a highly skilled and mission-driven HVAC / R Technician-Facilities to join our Fremont Facilities Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing critical HVAC and refrigeration systems that support Tesla's manufacturing environments. You will work alongside engineers, technicians, and sustainability experts to ensure our systems operate at peak efficiency-supporting Tesla's mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. Responsibilities Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on refrigeration units, air handling systems, chillers, and HVAC infrastructure Monitor system performance using BMS (Building Management Systems) and WebCTRL Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support HVAC needs in production and common space areas Execute root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions for recurring issues Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and energy efficiency standards Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, system performance, and parts inventory Support commissioning of new systems and retrofits of existing infrastructure Requirements 3+ years of hands-on experience with commercial/industrial refrigeration and air handling systems EPA Universal Certification required; additional HVAC/R certifications a plus Proficiency in installing, maintaining, and repairing: Air conditioning units (split, rooftop, and packaged systems),furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, chillers, air handlers, VAVs, and ductwork, thermostats and control systems Experience with VFDs, PLCs, and automated control systems Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and O&M manuals Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-tech environments with minimal supervision Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, safety-first mindset Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Aetna PPO and HSA plans > 2 medical plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Account) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High Deductible Aetna medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D, short-term and long-term disability insurance Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $32.00 - $48.27/hour + cash and stock awards + benefitsPay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
