We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our Operations Analysis and Performance (OAP) department, working remotely from home (WFH). As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in making data accessible, available, and curated for reporting and analysis. Our data engineering teams are responsible for curating Single Source of Truth information tables, generating and distributing automated reporting, transitioning to modern data and reporting tools, and serving as a center of excellence for green data processing and governance.

Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer in our Operations Analysis and Performance (OAP) department, you will be responsible for:

  • Locating and extracting data from various sources to be used in analysis, models, and project development
  • Cleaning and curating datasets by researching new data sources and collaborating with other business units to determine the best source of data, aggregating perspectives into meaningful hierarchies
  • Being familiar with data environments and collaborating to improve automated reviews and analyses in support of divisional leaders and business units
  • Leveraging emerging technologies and proactively discovering new and innovative approaches to communicate data and analysis that meet divisional needs
  • Supporting method development and project control engagements for both individual business units and cross-divisional initiatives
  • Training and mentoring other team members in various skills and subjects
  • Practicing security-aware behaviors in all operational procedures and practices
  • Having a team-first mindset with the fulfillment of our team and business partners as the top priority
  • Being intellectually curious, asking questions, and communicating when you have an idea
  • Experience working in high-profile environments with fluid priorities, ambiguity, and competitive deadlines

What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Proficiency in SQL and ETL/ELT patterns
  • Proficiency with Python, SAS, or other comparable tools and programming languages
  • Ability to troubleshoot a reporting database environment
  • Strong interest in detail and ability to work autonomously and manage multiple requests with various timelines
  • Self-starter with a resilient, solution-minded approach to complex problems working individually or in a team
  • Consistently prioritizes security and protection of self, others, and personal data
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States

  • Bachelor's degree or certificate in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science, or other applicable quantitative field
  • Previous airline experience
  • Working knowledge of and/or experience with cloud-based solutions (i.e., Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.)
