About the Position

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic faculty member to join our College of Arts & Sciences as a Lecturer in Biology (Neuroscience). This is a one-year renewable contract position with the potential for promotion to higher non-tenure-track ranks. As a Lecturer, you will be responsible for teaching undergraduate biology courses, including human anatomy and physiology, and developing scholarly research programs that engage undergraduates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate biology courses, including human anatomy and physiology, in a dynamic and engaging manner.
  • Develop and implement scholarly research programs that engage undergraduates in the field of neuroscience.
  • Contribute to the development of the Biology program and participate in departmental and university-wide initiatives.
  • Advise and mentor students in their academic and professional pursuits.
  • Participate in departmental and university-wide service activities, including committee work and professional development.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in the field of biology and neuroscience.

Essential Qualifications

  • PhD in Biology or a related field in the biological sciences (ABD considered).
  • Significant teaching and post-doctoral experience in the field of biology and neuroscience.
  • Strong commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate students.
  • Ability to develop and implement scholarly research programs that engage undergraduates.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching human anatomy and physiology courses.
  • Experience with curriculum development and program assessment.
  • Experience with grant writing and research funding.
  • Experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
