About the Substitute Teacher Role

We're seeking an experienced and passionate Substitute Teacher to join our community in Towaco, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to choose your assignments and work on your own schedule. Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in various educational settings, including elementary, middle, and high schools.
• Develop and implement lesson plans, ensuring alignment with the school's curriculum and teaching standards.
• Manage classroom behavior, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and motivation.
• Communicate effectively with school staff, including teachers, administrators, and other support personnel.
• Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback, teaching strategies, and areas for growth.
• Engage in ongoing professional development, including free online training sessions on topics such as trauma-informed teaching and classroom management.

Essential Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits.
• Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor.
• NJ Substitute Credential.
• Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this).
• Full COVID-19 vaccination.
• A passion for education and putting students first.
• An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role.
• Special education experience or training.
• Subject-specific expertise in areas such as Math, Science, English, or Special Education.

• Ability to adapt to new teaching environments and situations.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Flexibility and willingness to work varied schedules.
