Chesterfield County Public Schools is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Dual Language Immersion French Teacher to join our community at Robious Elementary School. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate instruction based on VDOE Foreign Language standards, the ACTFL framework, and CCPS objectives.
  • Integrate classroom content into daily lesson plans, incorporating technology and innovative teaching methods.
  • Teach speaking, reading, writing, and understanding of the French language, as well as French literature and culture, using the target language at least 90% of the time.
  • Assess student learning on an ongoing basis, adjusting instruction to meet individual and group needs.
  • Maintain a positive and orderly classroom environment, supervising students in non-classroom settings as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver instruction, sharing best practices and expertise.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, keeping them informed about student progress and involving them in the learning process.
  • Participate in district professional development and curriculum design, staying up-to-date on the latest teaching methodologies and technologies.
  • Engage in the planning and delivery of language-specific district events throughout the school year.
  • Promote authentic student experiences through partnerships with schools abroad and other cultural exchange opportunities.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must meet the following qualifications and requirements:

  • Hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in French.
  • Have completed a state-approved teacher preparation program in French or a related field.
  • Possess a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution, with a major or significant coursework in French.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the concepts, principles, and methodologies of instruction, as well as academic curriculum for assigned classes.
  • Show ability to develop instructional goals, design and deliver instruction, and assess student learning.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Possess strong decision-making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, and interpersonal relationship skills.
