Systems Automation Engineer

Work from home Full-time role Hiring

Who We Are

Gravwell is a full-stack security and observability platform built for people who need answers from their data—fast. Whether you're hunting threats, investigating incidents, or validating system health, Gravwell gives you the tools and performance to stay ahead. We're on a mission to simplify the SIEM experience without sacrificing power or flexibility.

What You’ll Do

As a Systems Automation Engineer, you’ll wear many hats—developer, systems engineer, and solutions builder. You’ll help design and deliver the core integrations that power Gravwell deployments, building custom ingesters, enrichment pipelines, and reusable kits for security, observability, and operational use cases. Whether writing Go-based tools, tuning Linux systems, or collaborating with customers and internal teams, you’ll play a central role in making Gravwell more powerful, scalable, and adaptable.

Your Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Gravwell ingesters using Go as well as other support tooling

  • Develop Gravwell kits that package integrations, content, and automations

  • Maintain and develop a security testbed to enhance and validate developed content

  • Collaborate with Customer Success and Product teams to scope and deliver professional services projects

  • Support the delivery of custom solutions, including enrichment workflows, threat intel integrations, and schema mapping

  • Troubleshoot performance, ingest, and configuration issues across Linux-based environments

  • Help improve engineering processes, documentation, and internal tooling for delivery and deployment

  • Work directly with customers and partners as needed to clarify requirements and deliver technical results

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–6+ years of experience in DevOps, backend development, or systems engineering

  • Proficiency in Go or a compiled systems language, especially for command-line tools, daemons, or backend services

  • Strong Linux skills, including systemd, networking, scripting (bash), and performance tuning

  • Comfort managing complex projects across engineering and/or customer-facing teams

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills—you can own tasks and work collaboratively across functions

  • A bias for action and curiosity—you enjoy building things that solve real problems

  • Experience with virtualization platforms and configuration management systems such as Ansible

Nice to Have
  • Experience with Gravwell or similar SIEM/data platforms (e.g., Splunk, Elastic, QRadar, Sentinel)

  • Background in threat intel, detection engineering, or schema-based content development

  • Experience working in professional services or as a technical lead for customer projects

  • Experience building or deploying custom data ingestion or integration pipelines

  • Open-source contributions or public Go projects

Why Gravwell?
  • Work on a high-impact platform with real-world security and observability challenges

  • Build tools that are deployed in sensitive and mission-critical environments

  • Autonomy to solve problems your way—small team, big ownership

  • Fully remote and flexible work environment with minimal red tape

  • Collaborate with passionate engineers who care about performance, scale, and clarity

  • Help reshape how security and operations teams interact with their data

Compensation

Base Salary: $140,000 - $210,000

Don’t meet every single requirement?

That’s okay. We believe great teammates can learn new skills. If you bring curiosity, a strong work ethic, and a collaborative mindset, we can teach the rest. Gravwell is built by people who love solving problems together—we’d love to meet you.
