Key Responsibilities:

• Assist teachers in planning, preparation, and implementation of individualized student objectives and goals, with a focus on self-sufficiency and educational success
• Provide support in special needs areas, including wheelchair transfers, toileting, and behavior management
• Document student progress, medication administration, and medical interventions
• Shadow and support students in mainstream and community environments
• Participate in total school functions and activities, including cafeteria and playground supervision
• Implement specific therapy exercises under the direction of a licensed therapist

Requirements:

• Associate's degree or 60 semester hours of coursework from an accredited institution of higher education, or pass a formal state assessment (Parapro test paid for and administered by the district)
• Additional training in child psychology, classroom management, special education needs, or related areas of study (desired)
• General clerical experience and proficiency in computer programs, including Microsoft Excel and Word
• First aid and CPR training required
• Excellent communication and human relation skills, with the ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, parents, and community members
