Creative Content & Social Media Specialist II

Position Overview Responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing social media strategies and content to enhance brand presence and engagement. Involves creating compelling content, managing social platforms, analyzing performance, and collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to drive integrated marketing initiatives. Essential Job Functions

  • Develop and manage strategic content calendars across various social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Facebook), crafting compelling copy, concepts, and visual briefs tailored to each channel.
  • Monitor social media trends, platform algorithm changes, and performance analytics to continuously optimize content strategy and engagement.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure social content aligns with broader marketing campaigns, product launches, and key events.
  • Track, analyze, and report on key social media performance indicators (KPIs) such as engagement, reach, and conversion, providing actionable insights for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all social media content is brand-aligned in tone, style, and quality, maintaining consistency across all platforms and touchpoints.
  • Contribute to campaign brainstorming, creative briefs, and cross-channel content planning, identifying opportunities for impactful storytelling.
  • Assist with managing outside vendors and contractors for creative projects, including graphic designers and videographers, ensuring timely delivery and brand alignment.
  • Stay current on emerging creative trends, digital consumer behavior, and competitor content strategies to inform and evolve social media efforts
  • Repurpose existing video content and create short-form video content specifically for various social media formats and platforms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Non-essential Job Functions

  • Perform light image manipulation or basic graphic creation for social media.
  • Routinely audit the organization’s website for content accuracy, brand consistency, and relevance.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to update outdated content and maintain alignment with organizational messaging and design standards.
  • Identify and report broken links, outdated visuals, and metadata issues; work with the web/IT team to resolve them.

Experience / Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, media relations, or a related field. 8 years of applicable experience can be in lieu of a degree.
  • 5-8 years of progressive experience in social media management, content creation, and digital marketing
  • Background in nonprofit, government, or mission-driven organizations
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful social media strategies that drive engagement and business results.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, and to relate to individuals with diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing comprehensive social media strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Strong writing, visual communication, and storytelling skills.
  • Familiarity with content creation and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro, or similar).
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting social media data, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights for performance optimization.
  • In-depth knowledge of major social media platforms and advanced proficiency with social media management and analytics tools (e.g., Meta Insights, Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Later, Google Analytics, native platform insights).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Keen awareness of evolving social media trends, algorithms, and emerging technologies, with the agility to adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Ability to function independently with minimal supervision.
