The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years of accounting experience in construction or a related industry, with strong leadership skills and the ability to manage remote teams effectively. A CPA certification is preferred; proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics AX D365 is preferred but not required. Key Responsibilities
- Experience managing multiple branches and entities
- Public accounting experience preferred
- Prepare month end rec, review of the monthly entries, review the work of junior accountants, help train/provide guidance to junior accountants, supervise, assist with analytical research (income statement, balance sheet), enhance internal controls, assist with improving and simplifying various accounting and reporting processes, assist with decision-making, lead ad-hoc projects, and act as a backup for some responsibilities of the Manager of Accounting Operations.
- Seek to “Simplify and Transform” the processes within department by continually looking for ways to do things better, simpler, more efficiently, all while improving accuracy and timeliness.
- Strong general ledger month end close, including fixed assets, operating expenses, accruals, prepaids expenses and more.
- Supervise & mentor a remote team of accountants and seniors, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Oversee month-end close, job costing, revenue recognition, and WIP reporting for construction projects.
- Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements for compliance with GAAP.
- Implement and improve accounting policies, internal controls, and process efficiencies.
- Assist with audit preparations
- Utilize Microsoft Dynamics AX (D365 F&O) for financial reporting and project accounting.
- Support cash flow management and banking.
Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred).
- 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in construction and contracting.
- 1+ years in a supervisory role, with experience managing remote teams.
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting
- Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines in a remote work environment.
