Electrical Engineer for Residential Permit on 12,000 Sq Ft Home, Temecula, CA

Work from home Full-time role Hiring

Job Description: I am seeking a licensed Electrical Engineer to provide a remote, permit-ready electrical design for a 12,000 sq ft, 4-level custom home in Temecula, California. The design must cover the entire electrical system to meet Temecula/Riverside County permitting requirements, including provisions for electric vehicle (EV) chargers in the garage, smart home features, and future integration with a geothermal mechanical system and radiant floor heating (currently in design). Scope of Work: Develop a permit-ready electrical design based on client-provided information (e.g., floor plans, garage specs, existing electrical details) for the property at Rancho California Rd, Temecula, CA 92591. Include: Electrical schematics for all levels, covering wiring for lighting, outlets, and power distribution. Main and sub-panel schedules to support a large residence. Provisions for 2 Level 2 EV charging stations in the garage (240V, 40-50A circuits, e.g., Tesla Wall Connector or ChargePoint). Support for smart home systems (e.g., Crestron, Lutron for lighting and automation). Account for future integration with a geothermal system (horizontal loop) and radiant floor heating, ensuring compatibility once mechanical design is finalized. Ensure compliance with California Title 24 energy codes, 2022 California Electrical Code, and Temecula/Riverside County permitting requirements. Deliver concise schematics, load calculations, and documentation formatted for permit submission. Requirements: Licensed Electrical Engineer in California (PE required for permitting). 5+ years of experience in residential electrical design, with expertise in large custom homes (10,000+ sq ft). Proven experience preparing electrical designs for permitting in California, particularly Riverside County. Familiarity with EV charger installations, smart home systems, and energy-efficient mechanical systems (e.g., geothermal, radiant heating). Knowledge of Temecula, CA, and Riverside County building codes and permitting processes. Ability to work remotely within a $1,000 budget, using client-provided data. Strong communication skills to clarify project details remotely and ensure permit-ready deliverables. References or examples of electrical designs approved for permitting in large homes. Deliverables: Permit-ready electrical schematics for the 12,000 sq ft home, including EV chargers, smart home systems, and provisions for mechanical integration. Load calculations and panel schedules meeting permit requirements. Documentation formatted for Temecula/Riverside County permit applications, including compliance with Title 24 and 2022 California Electrical Code. Brief notes on provisions for future geothermal and radiant heating integration. Timeline: Project start: Within 1-2 weeks of hiring. Expected completion: 2-3 weeks for permit-ready design and documentation. Budget: Fixed budget: $1,000 (all-inclusive, remote work only). Please confirm your ability to deliver permit-ready documentation within this budget. Location: Fully remote work based on client-provided information (e.g., floor plans, garage specs, electrical details). No on-site visits required. How to Apply: Please submit: A cover letter detailing your experience preparing electrical designs for permitting large homes, including EV chargers and smart home systems, and ability to work within a $1,000 budget. Your resume or Upwork profile highlighting relevant qualifications and permitting experience. Examples of electrical designs approved for permitting, preferably for large homes. Confirmation of your ability to work remotely and proposed timeline. Additional Notes: Strong preference for candidates familiar with Temecula or Riverside County permitting processes. The mechanical system (geothermal and radiant heating) is in design; only minimal provisions for future integration are needed. Applicants must request specific information (e.g., floor plans, garage layout, panel capacity) to complete the permit-ready design remotely. Questions about the scope, budget, or permitting requirements are welcome during the proposal phase. Apply Job!
