Assessment Rater (Language Proficiency Assessment Evaluator) (Contract)
JOB TITLE: Assessment Rater (Language Proficiency Assessment Evaluator) LOCATION: Remote START DATE: June 2, 2025 DURATION: 1-month contract HOURS: 30 - 35 hours per week COMPENSATION: $40/hr At Summit K12, we believe that every student can do well in school if instruction is tailored to their unique learning needs and they receive the encouragement to strive and achieve. Our learning programs provide teachers with the ability to differentiate instruction, monitor progress, and support learners in their journey toward success. From English learners, multilingual students, bilingual students and dual language learners who are struggling to read or write, Summit K12’s online, standards-based supplemental curriculum will close gaps and ensure growth for all students. We are seeking experienced ESL educators to serve as official raters for student responses from ELP benchmark assessments, including ACCESS. These educators will play a critical role in helping us train and calibrate a new AI scoring model by evaluating and scoring student writing and speaking responses using official rubrics. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluate and score written and spoken student responses using the appropriate scoring rubrics (ACCESS).
- Review AI-generated scores and rationales; agree or disagree and provide rationale if necessary.
- Ensure consistent, accurate, rubric-aligned scoring across grade levels and item types.
- Support the development of a highly accurate AI scoring engine by providing high-quality, human-calibrated scoring data.
- Complete assigned batches of responses within deadlines.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Active ESL certification in your state (proof required).
- Familiarity with scoring rubrics for writing and speaking domains.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to scoring accuracy and consistency.
- Comfortable using online platforms to review and score content.
ADVANCED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience with AI scoring tools, educational technology platforms, or calibration projects.
- Multilingual proficiency is a plus.
