Java Software Engineer (Senior)

Doran Jones is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to join a highly skilled team of SDLC professionals. The candidate will be working on a project that is an ongoing redesign of the Operational Risk Management application for a large financial services company. The application leverages Java Springboot microservices, an Angular frontend via pod deployments, and an Oracle database. The project goal is to replace the legacy application with a more modern enterprise application capable of interfacing with many of the organization's external systems. The application will monitor Residual Risk across Processes and assess the effectiveness of Controls across the firm's many global businesses. This role involves software development, solution design, and architecture. This role opportunes candidates to develop and/or leverage full-stack capabilities. This role is not open to C2C and will not sponsor H1B candidates. Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Java applications, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability. • Apply practical knowledge of development and engineering to conceive, design, develop, test, and implement software fixes, enhancements, and new systems. • Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and quality guidelines. • Collaborate with architects and stakeholders to design robust and scalable software solutions, considering system requirements and constraints. • Analyze complex technical problems and propose innovative solutions, balancing performance, scalability, and maintainability. • Write unit tests, debug, and troubleshoot issues to ensure software quality and reliability. • Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize code, database queries, and system architecture. • Create and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, API specifications, and deployment procedures. • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and QA engineers, to deliver high-quality software solutions on time and within budget. • Develop, manage, build, and maintain the technical components related to server-side and web service-based solutions. • Participate in developing specifications for assigned components, projects, or fixes. • Interact and coordinate deliverables with other technical groups in the organization. Required Experience: • 13+ Years of overall software development experience in enterprise systems. • 10+ years of software development experience in Core Java, including multi-threading. • 8+ years of experience with Spring Boot and Spring Batch. • 5+ years of microservice architecture and low-latency implementations. • 3+ years of experience working with distributed caching systems • 3+ years implementing Apache Kafka data pipelines. • In-depth knowledge of Agile Software Development practices and how to leverage these to streamline project execution. • Possess the ability to decompose business problems into smaller components while considering the impact on other subsystems. • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. • Familiar with software engineering practices, including CI/CD pipelines, Automated Testing, and Performance Engineering. • Working knowledge of SDLC, especially regarding improving agile delivery metrics. • Strong communication and team/technical leadership skills. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field. • Consulting experience. Preferred Experience: • Financial services experience is a plus. • Full-stack experience with Angular UI. Doran Jones Inc.
