The Investment Accounting Intern will be responsible for reconciling, reviewing, and ensuring correctness of account balances for all asset types including but not limited to bonds, stocks, mortgage loans, derivatives and limited partnerships. You will work with individuals within Symetra as well as with Symetra's third-party vendor to resolve any outstanding transactions and explain any observed discrepancies. Symetra's Internship Program for Summer 2025 is entirely remote - all interns will learn and work in a virtual setting. The internship duration is 12 weeks. Your responsibilities may include Participate in the accounting close cycle; preparing journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and/or reporting files. Assist with investment accounting projects (GAAP, and/or Statutory reporting bases) Participate in month end close process including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and review of certain schedules Preparation and tie-out of quarterly deliverables Rollforward and preparation of upcoming year-end 2025 deliverables Your education, experience and skills Enrolled in an undergraduate program pursuing an accounting or finance degree. Good organizational and communication skills. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong computer skills, especially Excel and Word. Ability to work collaboratively with individuals across cultures, languages, and geography. What we offer you Fully remote internship.
