Operator, Mail Sorter

About the position The Operator, Mail Sorter position at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina involves processing mail by priority based on contractual mail dates and ensuring compliance with USPS regulations and federal privacy laws. The role requires operating high-speed mail inserters and other printing and mailing equipment to meet the company's obligations for mailing first-class correspondence, statements, and checks. The position is full-time, requiring adherence to strict guidelines to maintain HIPAA compliance and ensure the integrity of mail processing. Responsibilities • Operate all department inserters, mailing machines, and printers for production mail processing. , • Accurately complete and maintain manual quality control logs for charge-back purposes. , • Perform equipment setup and adjustments for each job to ensure proper processing. , • Hand-match checks with statements and insert them into envelopes for all mail sets that default from the inserting machine process. , • Maintain a clean and organized work area. , • Enforce building security procedures. , • Monitor equipment performance and schedule or perform cleaning and maintenance. Requirements • High School Diploma or equivalent. , • 2 years of experience working in a business or government agency. , • Excellent organization with a high level of attention to detail. , • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. , • Basic knowledge of postal regulations related to discount mail or ability to acquire it. , • Ability to work efficiently as a member of a cohesive team. , • Customer service skills. , • Analytical or critical thinking skills. , • Good judgment and ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion. , • Ability to move up to 50 pounds throughout the workday. , • Ability to clear machine jams by bending, stooping, and reaching. , • Ability to use a personal computer in a Windows operating environment, including Microsoft Word. , • Ability to understand various software applications related to mail areas.
