Senior Software Engineer - Spark

Description: • Penn Mutual is looking to hire a motivated and experienced Senior Software Engineer to strengthen and lead our financial services engineering team. • This team manages a financial data platform, using big data technologies and a distributed compute engine in the Cloud to process and store large amounts of financial data. • The platform also serves as an integration point to send and receive data from other systems. • This is a hands-on position with a people mentoring component. • The position partners closely with Accountants and Actuaries, in the business, to sustain daily operations and end of quarter activities. • Excellent communication skills in both technical and business areas are a must. Requirements: • 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with any object-oriented language, Java or Scala preferred. • 5+ years of experience using Spark, EMR, Glue or other serverless compute technology in the Cloud. • 5+ years of experience architecting and enhancing data platforms and service-oriented architectures. • 2+ years of team leadership experience. • Experience working within Agile/DevSecOps development environments. • Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills. • More recent experience in Cloud development preferred. • Experience working with modern, web-based architectures, including REST APIs, Serverless, event-driven microservices. • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
