Let's define tomorrow together. As an airline, safety is our most important principle. And our Corporate Safety team is responsible for making sure safety is top of mind in every action we take. From conducting flight safety investigations and educating pilots on potential safety threats to implementing medical programs and helping prevent employee injuries, our team is instrumental in running a safe and successful airline for our customers and employees. Responsibilities • Responsible for the strategic management and improvement of United's Safety Excellence program. , • Perform comprehensive on-site Safety Excellence evaluations at United locations to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations. , • Collaborate with operational leaders and the safety team to devise and implement corrective actions. , • Oversee the maintenance and yearly revision of the documentation for United's Safety Excellence program. , • Analyze safety excellence data and identify trends to provide insights to leaders and business partners. , • Lead safety assessments of operational areas and collaborate with operations teams and management. , • Serve as the liaison with operating divisions to address Safety Excellence and OSHA Voluntary Protection Program concerns. , • Stay current with OSHA regulations and industry trends to ensure the organization's policies remain relevant and effective. Requirements • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience in Physical sciences, business, safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or equivalent work experience. , • 4+ years of operational experience working with safety policy and procedure in a dynamic industry. , • Ability to lead and promote a culture of safety and to influence others to adopt safety best practices. , • Familiarity with and ability to interpret and follow the code of federal regulations (CFR) specific to OSHA (29CFR). , • Excellent communication skills. , • Ability to travel up to 50%. , • Comprehensive understanding of applicable regulatory requirements. , • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship. , • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification. , • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position. Nice-to-haves • MBA, MSS, aviation or industrial industry safety and health experience. , • ASP, CSP, OSHA 511 & 501 or NSC Advanced Safety Certificate. , • Experience with OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program (VPP). , • OSHA credentials (10, 30 Hour), Safety/IH training. , • Previous leadership experience in an airline managing safety performance. , • Project management experience desirable, including systems integration, budgets, and resource management. , • Airline corporate and field operational safety experience. , • Cross functional experience involving the application of safety process, initiatives and risk assessment and compliance validations. , • Excels in a constantly evolving environment and displays a strong passion for learning.
