Data Technician (Part-Time Contractor)

Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Data Technician to join our team on a part-time contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, analyzing, and interpreting complex datasets to support our mission of creating transparent and ethical supply chains. Key Responsibilities Write reports and analyses on new legislation Scout and identify new data sources to enhance research capabilities Collect, clean, and process datasets from diverse sources Request additional information for incomplete data Perform data validation, deduplication, and quality assurance Convert metadata into standard formats for cross-team use Transform various file types into ingestible formats for workflows Organize content databases for seamless access Take on additional responsibilities as assigned Maintain accurate records of tasks, files, and progress Contribute approximately 15-20 hours per week Qualifications 2+ years experience or equivalent education with data entry, management, and/or analysis skills Expert at efficiently cleaning and reviewing data to standardize and identify quality issues Strong Excel expertise with large datasets (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data sources, queries) Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Experience working with structured databases Ability to troubleshoot issues with data files, SQL templates, and database tables Quick to learn new technical tasks and adapt to changing needs Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and meet deadlines Beginner Python skills are a bonus!
