Certified Medical Coder (CGSC Required)

We are growing and looking to expand our team! Accountable Revenue Cycle Solutions is seeking a high performing certified medical coder with CGSC Certification to join our organization. Experience and certification as a general surgery coder is a requirement. Detailed Responsibilities for the Position Evaluates the initial CPT code selections made by clients for surgeries, correcting as needed. Review medical records and assign all CPT/HCPCS/Modifier/ICD-10-CM codes, as appropriate for physicians, NPs, and PAs. Identify any required improvements to provider documentation, and deliver feedback to improve coding accuracy and quality. Communicate findings with client directly. Enter charges into applicable practice management software. Demonstrate knowledge and experience with CCI edits, payer edits, and payer policies including Medicare NCD and LCDs. Mentors the non-certified staff members on how to assign the correct modifiers to claims already coded by clients. Evaluates coding related claim denials determining whether to appeal or reprocess with corrected information. Once a quarter, reviews a sample of claims for office visits, wound care, DME and non-surgical hospital care to identify opportunities for coding performance improvement by the providers. Reports findings to the Chief Compliance Officer and implements training for the client to facilitate improvement, as directed by management. Meet required productivity standards and maintain 95% accuracy in quality assurance reviews. Adhere to all company compliance policies and external regulatory requirements. Perform additional duties as necessary to meet our client obligations. Required Qualifications CGSC Certification required Experience coding for general surgery required. Thorough knowledge and experience with E/M rules Competent user of Microsoft Office software (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.) Strong performer in the following areas: organization, attention to detail, communication skills, customer service Minimum of five years of prior experience working as a certified coder and assisting providers with clinical documentation improvement In the advanced stage of the interview process, the candidate will be asked to code a set of surgical cases in order to demonstrate skills.
