Job Summary of FedEx Freight Operations Assistant: Part of your role as a FedEx Freight Operations Assistant will be to effectively manage and transport freight within the facility. This will require ensuring accurate and timely loading, unloading, and sorting of shipments. Your contribution to the logistics operations of FedEx will be critical to maintaining the smooth flow of goods and timely... delivery of cargo to their respective destinations. Responsibilities of FedEx Freight Operations Assistant: • Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies (e.g. pallets, straps, rope). • Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary. • Verify and complete required documentation and reports. • Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed. • Perform hostling duties if required. • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures. • Perform other duties as required. • Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including but not limited to: forklift, pallet jack and hand truck. • Verify documentation matches freight description (e.g. type, weight, hazardous materials), using current electronic or manual system. Qualification of FedEx Freight Operations Assistant: • Candidates with a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification are favoured. • The prerequisite for this is that you have to be 18 years or older. • Prior history in warehousing, freight handling, or fork lift operations would be advantageous to prospective candidates. • Experience is preferred, but not mandatory, for candidates interested in performing hostler/yard mule duties. • Possessing the skillset to count and perform basic arithmetic procedures, with or without an electronic device. • Strong communication skills allow individuals to develop stronger relationships, improve teamwork dynamics and network building with others. • Proficient in lifting and carrying by hand various loads of different weights in a week, as well as in raising dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds and unlocking trailer doors demanding approximately 75 pounds of lift force, multiple times daily or more. • The need to contort, rotate, crouch, and convey freight by applying pressure to push and pull should be met for the entire duration of the work schedule. • Having the versatility to work independently or collaboratively within a team environment. • Having experience in dock or warehouse operations is preferred for this position. Working Condition of FedEx Freight Operations Assistant: • Dock environment; exposure to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, noise. • Hours may vary due to operational need. • Frequent contact with service center personnel; fast-paced, deadline oriented.
