[Remote] Regional Human Resources Manager - Americas

They are seeking a passionate and experienced Regional Human Resources Manager for the Americas to deliver strategic HR support, foster an inclusive culture, and ensure compliance across multiple countries.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic HR partner to directors and regional teams supporting conservation programs
- Align HR initiatives with the organization’s mission, values, and long-term conservation goals
- Support leaders in building engaged, high-performing teams across diverse environments, including field operations
- Promote a mission-driven, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture
- Provide guidance on employee relations matters with sensitivity to cultural and regional differences
- Lead initiatives that support employee well-being, engagement, and retention
- Handle employee coaching, conflict resolution, and performance-related matters
- Coordinate professional development opportunities
- Ensure organizational compliance with all local, state and country employment requirements, including annual training courses
- Manage HR operations across the Americas, including onboarding, offboarding, and HR systems
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations in the U.S., Latin America, Canada, and other regional jurisdictions
- Maintain handbook and adapt HR policies for global consistency with local relevance
- Maintain compliance with all legal requirements and HR best practices, with a proactive eye on reducing organizational risk
- Own and manage HR information system (HRIS), including data integrity, reporting, and system enhancements
- Partner with hiring managers to recruit diverse talent aligned with conservation values
- Support workforce planning for programmatic and field-based roles
- Implement learning and development initiatives to strengthen leadership and technical capabilities
- Oversee Regions benefits administration & payroll, including annual open enrollment, leave management, and retirement plans
- Assist in developing equitable and competitive compensation structures within a non-profit framework
- Manage benefits programs appropriate for multi-country staff
- Support grant-funded staffing structures and ensure compliance with donor requirements where applicable
- Partners with operations staff to ensure payroll and other benefits are processed in a timely and accurate manner
- Act as a key liaison between global HQ and regional teams
- Facilitate communication and collaboration across multiple countries and cultures
- Support change management initiatives in a dynamic, mission-driven environment
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 5–8+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a non-profit, NGO, or mission-driven environment
- Experience supporting multi-country teams across the Americas
- Knowledge of employment laws and HR practices in the U.S. and Latin America
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish, both verbally and in writing, in professional and business environments
- Applicants need to have legal work authorization in United States or Costa Rica
- Experience working in conservation, environmental, or international development organizations
- SHRM or other HR certification and/or a relevant degree a plus
- Experience supporting field-based or remote teams in challenging environments
- Strong work ethic coupled with enthusiastic and passionate approach to one's work
- High degree of professionalism and integrity; the ability to manage difficult situations with tact and diplomacy
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time to support business needs, including meetings and organizational events
