About arenaflex: A Mission-Driven EdTech Innovator
arenaflex is a dynamic, seed-stage EdTech startup operating at the intersection of education, technology, and mental wellness. Our team is composed of visionary educators, experienced coaches, and education technology experts who share a common purpose: to democratize access to mental health support for students across the United States. We understand that traditional models of mental health care often fail to reach the young people who need help the most, and we are determined to rewrite that narrative through innovation, empathy, and scalable technology.
Our flagship initiative provides free, on-demand coaching to middle and high school students nationwide, delivered through a secure, user-friendly chat platform that young people already know how to navigate. By removing barriers such as cost, stigma, and geographic limitations, arenaflex is creating a future where every student has a trusted coach in their corner during the moments that matter most. When you join arenaflex, you are not merely joining a company—you are joining a movement dedicated to ensuring that no young person has to navigate their mental health journey alone.
Position Overview: Chat-Based Youth Mental Health Coach
We are actively seeking compassionate, skilled, and mission-aligned individuals to join our roster of Chat-Based Youth Mental Health Coaches. This is a 1099 independent contractor position designed for professionals who value flexibility while making a profound difference in the lives of young people. Coaches provide real-time, text-based support to students through our proprietary chat platform, helping them navigate emotional challenges, build resilience, develop coping strategies, and access additional resources when needed.
Coaching sessions with arenaflex occur during school hours, specifically between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (5:00 AM to 3:00 PM Pacific Standard Time), based on student demand. Due to the on-demand nature of our service, hours can vary significantly from week to week—some weeks may require one to three hours of coaching support, while other weeks may have no active coaching hours at all. This variability reflects the genuine, organic nature of student needs and provides our coaches with a level of flexibility that is rare in the mental health field. Whether you are seeking supplemental meaningful work, a way to expand your professional reach, or a flexible opportunity that fits around other commitments, this role is designed to adapt to your life.
Key Responsibilities: What You'll Do as an arenaflex Coach
- Provide On-Demand and Weekly Coaching: Deliver high-quality, empathetic coaching to young people through our secure chat platform, responding to both scheduled sessions and real-time student-initiated conversations with warmth, professionalism, and clinical awareness.
- Support Diverse and Marginalized Communities: Engage with students from a wide range of cultural, socioeconomic, and personal backgrounds with cultural humility, sensitivity, and an unwavering commitment to equity. Many of the students we serve come from historically marginalized communities and need coaches who truly see and value them.
- Follow Established Protocols: Adhere to arenaflex's comprehensive coaching protocols, particularly when engaging in crisis-based chats. You will never be alone in these critical moments—our licensed Coach Supervisors provide real-time support and guidance whenever needed.
- Continuously Learn and Adapt: Embrace ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in youth mental health, chat-based coaching techniques, and emerging tools and platforms. We are a learning organization, and our coaches are lifelong learners.
- Document and Reflect: Maintain accurate, timely documentation of coaching sessions in accordance with arenaflex standards and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement through feedback and reflection.
- Uphold Ethical Standards: Maintain the highest standards of professional ethics, confidentiality, and boundaries in all interactions with students, families, and the broader arenaflex community.
