Why This Role Matters

The Remote Part‑Time Pharmacy Technician & Customer Service Specialist position sits at the intersection of pharmacy expertise and client interaction. You will be the voice and eyes of arenaflex, handling critical data entry tasks, answering inbound calls, and ensuring that every order—whether a new prescription, a refill, or a complex medication regimen—is processed accurately and efficiently. Your work directly impacts patient safety, medication adherence, and the overall reputation of arenaflex as a trusted partner in the healthcare ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Entry & Order Management: Execute all duties assigned by the Data Entry Manager, including entering prescription details, verifying medication codes, and maintaining up‑to‑date electronic records.
  • Phone & Customer Interaction: Answer inbound calls, respond to order inquiries, process re‑orders, and provide clear, courteous assistance to patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers.
  • Complaint Resolution: Investigate, triage, and resolve client complaints or concerns promptly, escalating complex issues when necessary to ensure satisfaction and compliance.
  • Fax Triage & Documentation: Prioritize incoming faxes by facility or department, adhere to established cutoff times, and ensure that all documentation is accurately logged and routed.
  • Order Clarification: Review ambiguous or incomplete orders, contact prescribers or facilities for clarification, and confirm that all medication details are correct before processing.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Uphold NJ Board of Pharmacy standards, maintain confidentiality of patient information, and follow all federal and state regulations governing pharmacy practice.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute ideas for workflow optimization, suggest enhancements to the electronic content management (ECM) system, and participate in regular training sessions.

Essential Qualifications

  • Active New Jersey Board of Pharmacy, Pharmacy Technician license (or equivalent licensure in another state with a willingness to obtain NJ licensure).
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working in a pharmacy setting, with a solid understanding of prescription processing, medication dispensing, and pharmacy software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of both brand‑name and generic medications, including dosage forms, therapeutic classes, and common drug interactions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional pharmacy‑related coursework or certifications (e.g., Certified Pharmacy Technician – CPhT) is a strong plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Moderate to advanced computer proficiency, including experience with pharmacy management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and electronic health record (EHR) platforms.
  • Professional telephone etiquette, clear verbal communication, and a friendly, patient‑focused demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Assets

  • Experience in long‑term care (LTC) pharmacy environments, where understanding of specialized medication regimens and regulatory requirements is essential.
  • Familiarity with frameworks or ECM (Enterprise Content Management) tools, which can streamline document handling and improve data integrity.
  • Previous remote work experience, demonstrating self‑discipline, reliable internet connectivity, and a productive home office setup.
  • Additional certifications such as Immunization Administration, Compounding, or Medication Therapy Management (MTM) that showcase a broader skill set.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams, including pharmacists, clinicians, and IT support staff.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret prescription data, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues before they affect patient care.
  • Communication Excellence: Clear, concise, and empathetic communication with patients, prescribers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Technical Agility: Quick adaptation to new software platforms, updates to pharmacy systems, and evolving regulatory guidelines.
  • Time Management: Efficiently prioritize tasks, meet strict cutoff times for fax processing, and handle high call volumes during peak periods.
