Description of Work This Engineer Technician II position is located in the Sylva VR/IL Unit Office and will provide support to the Rehabilitation Engineer I positions that work in the Western Region of NC. The Engineer Technician II will apply creative, engineering guidelines to develop recommendations that will assist persons with disabilities with functioning as independently as possible in their homes and communities. At least 95% of the presented problems pertain to the needs of clients who have severe disabilities and are referred to the engineers by either an Independent Living or a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. The duty station for this position will be located in the Western Region at the discretion of management and program needs. Job responsibilities include the following:

  • Making recommendations for suitable home and work modifications for persons with disabilities
  • Troubleshooting process and equipment problems
  • Reviewing completed projects
