With a mission to create healthier, happier lives through innovative health solutions, arenaflex blends physical storefronts with cutting‑edge digital platforms to deliver a seamless omnichannel experience. Our commitment to community well‑being, technology‑driven care, and continuous improvement makes arenaflex an exciting place for forward‑thinking professionals who want to shape the data foundations of a modern health ecosystem.

Why This Role Matters

Data is the lifeblood of arenaflex’s strategic decisions, from inventory optimization to personalized patient outreach. As a Senior Data Architecture Engineer, you will design, build, and evolve the enterprise‑wide data architecture that powers analytics, business intelligence, and AI‑driven insights. Your work will directly influence how millions of customers receive care, how clinicians access critical information, and how the organization stays ahead of market trends.

Position Overview

This is a fully remote, work‑from‑home opportunity based in the United States (with a preference for candidates located in Illinois, but open to qualified applicants nationwide). You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including data engineers, product managers, and business analysts—to translate complex business requirements into robust, scalable data solutions that support both current operations and future growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Data Modeling: Develop and maintain comprehensive data models, data dictionaries, and metadata repositories that reflect arenaflex’s evolving business needs.
  • Architecture Blueprinting: Create and evolve the enterprise data, integration, and warehouse architectures, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and industry best practices.
  • Technology Strategy: Define and champion data technology standards, including cloud platforms, DevOps pipelines, and data‑as‑a‑service (DaaS) frameworks.
  • Collaboration & Governance: Partner with data engineers to design optimized data pipelines, enforce data quality standards, and drive taxonomy and namespace governance.
  • Performance Optimization: Analyze query performance, ELT/ETL workflows, and batch processing jobs to improve latency, reliability, and near‑real‑time capabilities.
  • Innovation & Market Awareness: Monitor emerging data technologies and trends, recommending enhancements that increase platform resilience, scalability, and cost‑efficiency.
  • Project Leadership: Lead large‑scale data platform initiatives, acting as the technical owner for architecture upgrades, migrations, and major feature releases.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Translate technical concepts into business‑focused language for senior leadership, ensuring data initiatives are understood and supported across the organization.
  • Compliance & Security: Embed privacy, security, and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.) into the data architecture to protect patient and customer information.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Minimum four years of hands‑on experience designing and implementing enterprise data architectures, data warehouses, or large‑scale analytics platforms.
  • At least one year of domain‑specific architecture experience, preferably within retail, pharmacy, or health‑care environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cloud‑based solutions (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and modern data stack technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks).
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).
  • Proven ability to influence financial decisions, budgeting, and cost‑optimization strategies for data platforms.
  • Experience leading or managing cross‑functional teams, with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within scope.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10 % of the time for on‑site collaboration with business units, partners, or industry events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, or SnowPro Core.
  • Experience with data governance frameworks (e.g., Collibra, Alation) and metadata management tools.
  • Background in health‑care data standards (HL7, FHIR) or pharmacy‑specific data models.
  • Demonstrated success in building real‑time analytics pipelines using streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, or Pulsar).

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect complex business problems and translate them into scalable data solutions.
  • Communication: Clear, concise articulation of technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Mentoring junior architects, fostering a collaborative culture, and driving consensus across diverse teams.
  • Strategic Vision: Long‑term perspective on data evolution, balancing immediate needs with future innovation.
  • Adaptability: Comfort working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities.
  • Ethical Stewardship: Commitment to data privacy, security, and ethical use of information.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

arenaflex invests heavily in employee development. As a senior architect, you will have access to:

  • Annual learning stipend for conferences, certifications, or advanced coursework.
  • Mentorship programs pairing you with senior leaders in data science, product strategy, and technology innovation.
  • Opportunities to lead enterprise‑wide initiatives that shape the future of health‑care data.
  • Cross‑functional rotations that broaden your exposure to retail operations, pharmacy services, and digital health platforms.
