[Remote] Cloud Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Robert Half is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to support and enhance a highly available cloud environment. This role focuses on strengthening infrastructure reliability, improving observability, and advancing automation across core AWS services.
Responsibilities
- Manage and improve cloud infrastructure components such as VPCs, DNS services, content delivery layers, load balancers, and compute resources to support secure and reliable operations
- Build and maintain resilient architecture strategies across availability zones, including automated disaster recovery solutions and regular validation of recovery readiness
- Respond to operational incidents by investigating issues, identifying root causes, and driving corrective actions that reduce recurrence and improve service stability
- Establish and refine monitoring and observability capabilities using tools such as CloudWatch and Datadog, with a focus on logging, alerting, metrics, and trend analysis
- Analyze infrastructure performance, capacity, and cost patterns to recommend and implement improvements that enhance scalability and efficiency
- Create and support infrastructure-as-code solutions using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation to standardize provisioning and configuration management
- Strengthen deployment processes by developing and optimizing CI/CD workflows with platforms such as Harness, GitHub Actions, or similar pipeline tools
- Maintain clear technical documentation covering architecture decisions, operational procedures, and environment configurations for ongoing team alignment
- Partner with developers, system administrators, and security stakeholders to ensure cloud platforms meet operational, compliance, and business continuity need
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
- At least 10 years of hands-on cloud engineering experience, including significant depth in AWS environments
- Required AWS certification; advanced AWS certifications are considered an advantage
- Strong background with AWS services and technologies such as EC2, VPC, Auto Scaling, Route 53, CDNs, and DynamoDB
- Experience with infrastructure automation and IaC tools, including Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Python or PowerShell, with a focus on operational best practices
- Familiarity with DevOps and delivery tools such as Ansible, JIRA, Azure DevOps, Harness, or GitHub Actions
- Ability to work independently, translate technical requirements into deliverables, and contribute effectively to discussions with senior engineers and architects
