Engineering Designer, Transportation Lighting & Signals

R.V. Anderson Associates Limited is an employee-owned company that fosters a culture of innovation and collaboration. They are seeking an Engineering Designer to join their Transportation Lighting & Signals team, where the successful applicant will prepare designs for traffic signals and roadway lighting while providing technical and administrative support throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Providing engineering and design for electrical systems as part of both small and large scale multi-disciplinary projects. Services include Lighting, Traffic Signals, and Joint Utility Trench designs
  • Prepare schematic and detailed design drawings
  • Provide technical and administrative support at all stages of the project, from proposal to construction
  • Periodic field visits to validate survey plans, review existing conditions, assess conflicts, and monitor construction activities
  • Complete lighting analysis using AGi32
  • Provide support in preparing Contract documents, including specifications and cost estimates
  • Preparation of post construction record drawings

Skills

  • Education in civil and electrical design with a specific focus on roadway lighting and traffic signals
  • 0-5 years of design experience
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., TAC, ESA, IMSA, AODA, RP-8, Ontario Traffic Manuals, OPSS, Highway Traffic Act, PHM-125 Legal Plans)
  • Experience in the coordination of utility contacts and conflict assessment
  • Familiarity with AGi32 and AutoCAD
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • A valid Ontario Driver's Licence – Class G and access to a personal vehicle for business purposes
  • Experience with MicroStation, AutoTurn and SPIDAcalc will be considered an additional asset
  • Ability to calculate tender item quantities and prepare construction cost estimates, will be considered an additional asset
  • Experience with preparation of pavement marking and roadway signage plans will be considered an additional asset
