You’ll work alongside visionary data scientists, product owners, and DevOps specialists to design, implement, and maintain robust data pipelines that power critical business decisions. This role offers the perfect blend of technical challenge, strategic impact, and personal growth—all from the comfort of your home office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with source data application teams and product owners to design, develop, and support analytics solutions that enable data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Implement end‑to‑end data movement and data engineering workflows using Azure services such as Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Event Hub, Azure Databricks, and Azure Functions.
  • Architect, build, and maintain both batch and streaming pipelines, ensuring high reliability, scalability, and performance.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle: infrastructure provisioning (Azure Foundation, networking, security, governance), ingestion, transformation, testing, CI/CD pipelines, deployment tuning, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Lead technical initiatives within a cross‑functional team, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and mentorship.
  • Drive adoption of best‑practice coding standards, security policies, and data governance frameworks across the data engineering community.
  • Provide expertise and coaching to junior engineers on cloud‑native development, data modeling, and performance optimization.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and propose enhancements that align with arenaflex’s strategic objectives.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of professional experience in software development with an Agile/DevOps mindset, focusing on large‑scale data engineering solutions.
  • At least 5 years of hands‑on experience writing complex SQL queries and performing data analysis.
  • 3+ years of full‑stack development experience, preferably with Azure cloud technologies.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and operating data lake architectures, with a strong preference for Microsoft Azure ecosystems (Azure Data Lake, Azure Event Hub, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, Azure DevOps, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Power Apps, Azure Functions).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala, or Java, and familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, and Terraform.
  • Experience with data warehousing tools (e.g., DataStage, Informatica) and BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, Alteryx, Grafana).
  • Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Advanced certifications such as Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or similar.
  • Experience in the airline or travel industry, understanding of operational data flows, and familiarity with industry‑specific regulations.
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases (Cassandra, MongoDB, Snowflake) and big‑data processing frameworks (Spark, Hadoop).
  • Exposure to data cataloging and lineage tools like Informatica Axon, Collibra, or BigID.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value for non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Passion for mentorship, community building, and fostering an inclusive, collaborative culture.

Core Competencies for Success

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to dissect complex problems, identify root causes, and propose data‑driven solutions.
  • Collaboration: Comfortable working in distributed, cross‑functional teams and building strong relationships with product owners, data scientists, and operations.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast‑changing environment, quickly learning new technologies and adjusting to evolving priorities.
