Staff Accountant (Growth Track) — Small Business · Fully Remote Cornerstone Accounting Solutions · Remote (Eastern time zone preferred) · Full-time · $50,000–$55,000 to start, with real room to grow About us We're a small, boutique firm doing the back-end accounting for around 100 owner-led small businesses — salons, restaurants, trades, property management, e-commerce, and more. Seven years in, five of us, fully remote. We run on QuickBooks Online, Gusto, Notion, and AI tools connected to almost everything we do. And no — this isn't a 60-hour-a-week shop. The role A growth role. You'll start by doing the work — categorizing and reconciling in QBO, running month-end close on small cash-basis clients, keeping books accurate, building and following SOPs. Over 12–18 months you'll grow into owning a portfolio of your own clients managing the relationship and the accounting, end to end. We build you up deliberately — simple clients first, then more as you're ready. Nobody gets thrown in the deep end. Who thrives here Read this honestly — it matters more than the technical stuff.

• You figure things out. Hit something you don't know? You check the SOP, search the software, ask the AI, look it up — before you raise your hand.
• But you communicate. The worst failure mode on this team isn't a mistake, it's silence. If something's stuck, at risk, or a client's unhappy, we hear it from you early.
• You own mistakes and turn them into a process. No defensiveness, no cover-ups.
• You take feedback without taking it personally. Our reviews are nitpicky on purpose. If you "know the textbook right way" and can't flex when a cash-basis client needs it done differently (legal and sensible, just not GAAP), this won't fit.
• You're flexible and quietly reliable. Small-business accounting is controlled chaos. You roll with it and care about doing it right more than looking right. • Roughly 2–4 years of hands-on bookkeeping/accounting (less is fine if you're sharp and hungry)
• Solid fundamentals — reconcile bank and credit card accounts, book a journal entry, run a month-end close without hand-holding
• QuickBooks Online experience, and comfort learning new software fast
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Nice to have multi-client or firm experience; exposure to our industries; curiosity about AI in accounting What we offer
