The Opportunity

We are hiring a Senior Data Engineer – Enterprise Data Modeling & Warehouse Architecture to join our globally distributed Information Engineering team. This is a remote-first role, designed for a seasoned data professional who can architect, build, and govern enterprise-grade data models that power everything from executive dashboards to machine learning workloads.

As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will dive into one of the largest and most complex data ecosystems in the world. You will design logical and physical data models across relational, dimensional, and NoSQL environments, partner with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders, and ensure that the data fueling arenaflex's decision-making is accurate, consistent, and built to scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with Application Development teams to execute data strategies, build scalable data flows, and develop robust, future-proof data models.
• Design and implement logical and physical data models following industry best practices, ensuring high data quality and support for application, batch, and interactive use cases.
• Create, optimize, and continuously refine data models to support new and existing initiatives in alignment with arenaflex's enterprise data standards.
• Develop data modeling solutions optimized for relational, dimensional, and NoSQL databases, including hybrid and modern cloud-native architectures.
• Maintain applied, logical, and physical data models along with their associated metadata, documentation, and governance artifacts.
• Establish and enforce best practices for naming conventions, coding standards, and design patterns to ensure consistency across all data models.
• Identify opportunities to reuse existing data models in new environments, reducing duplication and accelerating delivery.
• Reverse-engineer physical data models from existing databases and SQL scripts to support migrations, modernization, and refactoring efforts.
• Evaluate data models and physical databases for structural inefficiencies, anomalies, and performance bottlenecks.
• Validate business data objects for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to defined standards.
• Analyze data-related system integration challenges and recommend scalable, sustainable solutions.
• Mentor and guide System Analysts, Architects, Developers, and other engineers on project scope, capabilities, performance requirements, and interface design.
• Review changes to existing data pipelines, models, and software to improve efficiency, scalability, and performance.
• Assess new application designs and recommend data model corrections or enhancements when required.

What You Will Bring

Essential Qualifications

• A strong academic record and a completed Bachelor's degree (B.E / B.Tech), Master's degree (M.E / M.Tech), or MBA from an accredited institution.
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in data warehousing, enterprise data modeling, and large-scale data engineering.
• Deep expertise in multiple data modeling techniques for data warehousing, including Third Normal Form (3NF), Dimensional Modeling, Data Vault, and hybrid approaches.
• Proven experience working with massive-scale data warehouses (100 TB+) and operational data stores (ODS).
• Strong, production-grade experience building data models for MPP, relational, and NoSQL platforms, including BigData, Hive, SQL Server, Hadoop, Cassandra, and cloud data warehouses such as Google BigQuery and/or Snowflake.
• Demonstrated success working with globally distributed teams in a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance manner.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence across a wide range of stakeholders.

Minimum Qualification Pathways

For this position, arenaflex requires one of the following:

• Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, plus 3 years of experience in data modeling, data analytics, data warehousing, or software development.
• Option 2: 5 years of experience in data modeling, data analytics, data warehousing, programming, or a related field.
• Option 3: Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, plus 1 year of experience in data modeling, data analytics, data warehousing, or programming.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Master's or higher) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related discipline.
• Hands-on experience with formal Data Modeling tools and methodologies.
• Industry experience in retail, supply chain, e-commerce, healthcare, or another large-scale, data-intensive domain.
