arenaflex is a global leader in health‑focused technology, dedicated to delivering human‑centric care solutions that empower millions of individuals every day. Our mission is to make health more personal, accessible, and affordable by harnessing the power of data, artificial intelligence, and a compassionate workforce. At arenaflex, every employee contributes to a larger purpose: improving patient outcomes and shaping the future of retail pharmacy through innovative analytics and cutting‑edge technology.

Why This Role Matters

The retail pharmacy landscape is evolving at an unprecedented pace. To stay ahead, arenaflex relies on sophisticated data science, machine‑learning models, and real‑time analytics that drive patient safety, operational efficiency, and strategic decision‑making across more than 9,700 pharmacy locations. As the Lead Director of Data Science & Patient Safety Analytics, you will spearhead the development of AI‑powered solutions that detect, prevent, and resolve safety incidents, while also leading a high‑performing team of data researchers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and execute a multi‑year data science roadmap that aligns with arenaflex’s patient safety and retail pharmacy objectives.
  • Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and grow a diverse team of data scientists, analysts, and ML engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • AI/ML Solution Design: Architect and implement advanced analytics pipelines, predictive models, and AI‑driven decision support tools that proactively identify safety risks.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with senior business leaders, pharmacy operations, IT, compliance, and legal teams to translate business needs into data‑driven solutions.
  • Data Governance & Compliance: Ensure all analytics initiatives adhere to HIPAA, patient privacy regulations, and arenaflex’s internal data‑security standards.
  • Insight Communication: Translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights for non‑technical stakeholders, including executive leadership.
  • Innovation Advocacy: Champion the adoption of emerging technologies such as large‑language models, deep learning, and cloud‑native AI platforms across the pharmacy network.
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to measure the impact of safety analytics on operational outcomes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead iterative testing, validation, and refinement of AI models to maintain accuracy, reduce bias, and improve scalability.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years of experience leading high‑performing data science or analytics teams, preferably within a regulated industry such as healthcare or pharmaceuticals.
  • At least 8 years of hands‑on experience in the full product development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies, with a track record of delivering data‑driven products from concept to production.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field. A Master’s or Ph.D. is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning, and AI model development using Python, R, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar frameworks.
  • Proficiency with SQL, data warehousing, and big‑data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) for large‑scale data extraction and transformation.
  • Strong understanding of cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) and experience deploying models in production‑grade cloud infrastructure.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to senior business partners, regulatory bodies, and frontline pharmacy staff.
  • Deep knowledge of healthcare data privacy regulations (HIPAA) and experience navigating compliance requirements in data‑intensive projects.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience leading AI/ML initiatives that directly impact patient safety, medication error reduction, or clinical decision support.
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud‑native AI services such as Amazon SageMaker, Google AI Platform, or Azure Machine Learning.
  • Advanced programming skills in Python, including libraries such as pandas, scikit‑learn, and Keras.
  • Familiarity with real‑time streaming analytics (Kafka, Flink) and deployment of models in low‑latency environments.
  • Proven ability to manage multi‑disciplinary projects, balancing technical depth with business priorities and regulatory constraints.
  • Track record of publishing or presenting research findings at industry conferences or in peer‑reviewed journals.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) to create executive‑ready dashboards.
  • Strong problem‑solving mindset, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence without direct authority.

Core Competencies for Success

  • Analytical Rigor: Ability to dissect complex datasets, identify patterns, and develop robust predictive models.
  • Leadership Presence: Inspire confidence, drive accountability, and cultivate a collaborative team environment.
  • Business Acumen: Understand the retail pharmacy ecosystem, revenue drivers, and the financial impact of safety initiatives.
  • Ethical Judgment: Uphold the highest standards of data ethics, patient confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment while maintaining focus on long‑term goals.
  • Communication Excellence: Translate technical results into compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
