Remote Senior Mechanical Engineer - Product Design

As a remote Senior Mechanical Engineer, your responsibilities will include: Leading the mechanical design and development of new consumer electronic products, from initial concept through to mass production, with a focus on user experience and manufacturability. Developing detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings using industry-leading software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360). Performing and interpreting engineering analyses, including structural, thermal, and tolerance stack-up studies, to ensure product robustness and performance. Collaborating effectively with remote cross-functional teams, including electrical engineering, firmware development, industrial design, and program management, utilizing virtual collaboration tools. Identifying and evaluating suitable materials, components, and manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication) for cost-effective mass production. Creating and executing comprehensive testing plans for prototypes and production units, analyzing results, and iterating on designs to meet product requirements. Generating and maintaining thorough technical documentation, including design specifications, BOMs, and validation reports. Troubleshooting and resolving mechanical design issues encountered during development and manufacturing phases. Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and remote team members. Actively participating in design reviews and contributing to design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) efforts. Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with a strong emphasis on consumer electronics or IoT product development. Proficiency in 3D CAD software and PDM/PLM systems. Experience with common manufacturing processes for consumer electronics. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively in a remote work environment. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with proficiency in using digital collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Teams, Zoom, Confluence). Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
