Position Overview

The Senior Ride Mechanical Design Engineer – Remote Data Entry Specialist is a pivotal role within our Ride Development team. This position blends high‑level mechanical engineering expertise with meticulous data‑entry responsibilities, ensuring that every design detail, analysis, and safety record is captured accurately and efficiently. Reporting to the Lead Ride Development Engineer, you will guide multidisciplinary teams through the full lifecycle of ride system design—from initial concept to final installation—while maintaining rigorous documentation standards that support compliance, quality, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • End‑to‑End System Design: Lead the design, analysis, and delivery of complex ride mechanical systems and associated hardware, guaranteeing structural integrity, reliability, and safety.
  • Conceptual “Clean‑Sheet” Design: Generate innovative ride concepts that meet creative objectives and partner requirements, translating storytelling briefs into feasible engineering solutions.
  • Requirement Translation: Extract and organize detailed functional requirements from high‑level narrative descriptions, artwork, and storyboards.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with creative, electrical, controls, and safety teams to define system specifications, interface details, and integration points.
  • Project Leadership: Direct daily activities of design and development teams throughout all project phases—concept, modeling, prototyping, fabrication, installation, testing, hand‑over, and close‑out.
  • Documentation Management: Own the creation, maintenance, and quality assurance of design, analysis, testing, risk, and reporting records, ensuring compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
  • Vendor Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for external suppliers, overseeing procurement, bid evaluation, contract award, and supplier performance.
  • Installation & Field Testing: Lead on‑site installation, field support, and testing activities, including hardware inspections, dynamic safety equipment usage, and navigation of confined spaces using catwalks, scaffolding, lifts, and specialized tools.
  • Data Entry Excellence: Accurately input and manage large volumes of technical data, test results, and compliance documentation in our enterprise systems, ensuring traceability and accessibility for future projects.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline design processes, enhance data integrity, and implement best practices across the Ride Development organization.

Essential Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering Experience: Minimum 7 years of hands‑on mechanical design experience, preferably within the amusement‑ride, aerospace, or heavy‑equipment sectors.
  • Advanced Design Knowledge: Deep understanding of statics, dynamics, material properties, kinematics, stress/strain analysis, and machine design principles.
  • Proficiency with Design Tools: Expert‑level skills in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Navisworks, SketchUp, ANSYS, FEA, and MATLAB for modeling, simulation, and validation.
  • Analytical & Problem‑Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to tackle ambiguous challenges, develop creative solutions, and make data‑driven decisions.
  • Project Management Acumen: Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, managing schedules, budgets, and deliverables in fast‑paced environments.
  • Safety‑Focused Mindset: Strong background in safety engineering, risk assessment, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO).
  • Effective Communication: Ability to convey complex technical concepts to both engineering and non‑technical stakeholders, producing clear documentation and presentations.
  • Remote Data Entry Expertise: Proven track record of maintaining high‑quality data entry processes, with attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications & Certifications

  • Previous experience with arenaflex or other leading entertainment‑technology firms.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license, Engineer-in‑Training (EIT), or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification.
  • Experience in life‑safety engineering, including familiarity with safety standards for ride systems.
  • Background in model making, rapid prototyping, or additive manufacturing.
  • Hands‑on experience with field testing equipment, dynamic fall protection gear, and confined‑space operations.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Mastery: SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or equivalent CAD platforms; simulation tools such as ANSYS and MATLAB.
  • Data Management: Proficiency with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems, ERP databases, and version‑control software.
  • Collaboration: Strong teamwork orientation, ability to influence without authority, and comfort working in matrixed environments.
  • Innovation: Passion for pushing the boundaries of what is possible in ride experiences, blending creativity with engineering rigor.
