Position Overview: Remote Data Center Operations & Infrastructure Support Specialist

The Remote Data Center Operations & Infrastructure Support Specialist at arenaflex plays an indispensable role in maintaining the operational integrity of our IT infrastructure. This position is responsible for the installation, servicing, and maintenance of arenaflex IT infrastructure within a 24/7 operational environment characterized by rapidly shifting priorities and an uncompromising demand for high availability.

As a vital member of our infrastructure team, you will serve as the remote technical backbone supporting on-site operations, ensuring that all systems remain operational, secure, and optimized.   • Infrastructure Installation and Maintenance: Support the deployment, installation, and ongoing maintenance of arenaflex IT infrastructure, including servers, network devices, and associated physical components across multiple data center locations.
  • 24/7 Operational Support: Provide round-the-clock remote support in a 24/7 environment, responding promptly to incidents, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with on-site teams to minimize downtime and maintain service continuity.
  • Hardware Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Perform diagnostics, run firmware updates, and resolve hardware and software issues affecting critical infrastructure components, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Cable Installation and Management: Execute cable installations, hardware rack and stack procedures, structured cabling solutions, and uplink configurations following industry best practices and data center standards.
  • Component Replacement and Repair: Conduct power cycles, swap out failed components, manage storage media, and perform physical hardware troubleshooting with precision and care.
  • Optical Connectivity Troubleshooting: Leverage specialized tools and expertise to troubleshoot optical connectivity issues, ensuring high-performance network operations.
  • Inventory and Asset Management Support: Collaborate with the Data Center Inventory and Asset Management Team to facilitate shipping, receiving, and stock control activities, supporting high work volumes and accurate asset tracking.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Create, update, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including network architecture diagrams, configuration records, and incident reports.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to government regulatory requirements, OSHA standards, EHS protocols, and other relevant compliance programs, following guidance from the management team.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Establish and enhance robust working relationships with diverse internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders, fostering a culture of cooperation and shared success.
  • Ticket Management: Understand and execute the standard ticket management process, ensuring timely resolution of incidents, service requests, and change requests.
  • Network and Data Center Planning: Utilize network and data center planning tools to support capacity planning, infrastructure expansion, and optimization initiatives.

Essential Qualifications: What You Bring to the Table

To excel in this role, candidates must possess a strong foundation in IT infrastructure support and a demonstrated ability to thrive in a 24/7 mission-critical environment. The following qualifications are required:

  • Minimum of 3-6 years of related experience in IT support, data center operations, or a closely related field.
  • Associate degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
  • Hands-on experience supporting IT devices or providing IT support in a professional setting.
  • Working knowledge of physical IT infrastructure components, including servers, switches, routers, and cabling systems.
  • Proficiency in operating across multiple operating systems, including macOS, Windows, and Linux.
  • Experience with Linux command-line scripting and automation tools.
  • Solid understanding of network protocols and concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLAN configurations.
  • Experience using industry-standard tools such as cable analyzers, smart network testers, and OTDR equipment.
  • Familiarity with Incident and Change Request applications and ticketing systems.
  • Experience with network and data center planning tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to install in-cabinet, uplink, and structured cabling solutions.
  • Knowledge of network architecture design and installation principles.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across functional teams and coordinate with diverse team members and vendors.
  • Strong capacity to engage with internal clients and external partners in a professional and effective manner.
  • Exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and work at heights as required by on-site operational needs.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive standard street-legal automatic transmission vehicles within the local jurisdiction.
  • Experience operating heavy-load motion devices up to 50 lbs, including pallet jacks and chassis lifts.
  • Flexibility to work non-business hours, including shifts, weekends, and holidays as operational demands require.
