Key Responsibilities

As a Healthcare Data Scientist at arenaflex, you'll play a crucial role in generating Real World Evidence (RWE) through advanced analysis and innovative methodologies in the clinical trials space. Your contributions will directly influence internal and external decision-making through the application of creative data science and technology.

• Mine raw datasets to deliver normalized, analysis-ready patient partners from in-house data resources or licensed platforms, analyze and interpret results, and help shape analysis strategy
• Partner with various members of the arenaflex Clinical Trials teams to deliver meaningful insights from real-world, clinical, and various data sources to support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial requests
• Focus on analysis of unmet needs, safe and effective treatment in specific disease states, treatment patterns and healthcare financial burden, and cost-effectiveness modeling
• Clean, transform and store data into a centralized data lake for future analysis and broader team utilization
• Perform data mining and statistical analysis to analyze RWE/RWD to discover new insights regarding patient populations and treatment outcomes
• Support the development of real data, analytics and platform capabilities, applying advanced analytics and tools to resolve scientific questions from biopharmaceutical companies
• Collaborate on design and execution of outcomes research studies
• Ensure high quality, comprehensive and readily interpretable results from RWE studies and analyses
• Build dashboards, analytics and reports for internal and external use
• Conduct due diligence on new real-world data provider vendors and drive RWD quality assessments to inform project decisions

Essential Qualifications

To excel in this Healthcare Data Scientist role at arenaflex, candidates must possess the following qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Biology, Public Health, or related discipline)
• Technical Skills:
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with R, Python, or SQL for data manipulation and analysis
  • Experience designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical analyses in the context of epidemiology and observational research with healthcare data
  • Knowledge of common statistical testing methods including generalized linear models, classification and clustering, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time series analysis and survival analysis
  • Experience processing large datasets from multiple data sources
  • Experience handling protected health information (PHI) with appropriate security protocols
  • Knowledge of at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other business intelligence tools
• Healthcare Knowledge:
  • Understanding of healthcare data structures and healthcare information systems
  • Familiarity with the healthcare research landscape and clinical trial processes

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in EMR/Health IT systems, disease registries, and insurance claims databases
  • Advanced skills in clinical data standards, clinical terminologies and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies (ICD9/10/ReadCode)
  • Experience with experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential data, and computational statistics
  • Deep understanding of statistics and machine learning methods, with ability to continue self-learning of technical and non-technical skills
• Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge:
  • Experience in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and/or regulatory compliance requirements for real-world evidence analyses or clinical trials (e.g., ISO, MDD/MDR, CFR)
  • Familiarity with healthcare data privacy regulations (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.)
• Healthcare Experience:
  • Experience handling alternative data sources and alternative methods for clinical data collection, especially those enabled by technology platforms and/or solutions
  • Background in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare analytics environments
