Junior Analyst - Venture Capital
StepStone Group is a global private markets specialist delivering tailored investment solutions and impactful, data-driven insights. The Junior Analyst will assist the Analytics Team in processing data, creating models, and generating analyses for investment research.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Research team with the due diligence of new private markets funds by constructing track record models, which are used to analyze the historical performance of private markets fund managers. An advanced proficiency with Excel will be required
- Process Secondary models, which are used to analyze the historical and project performance of secondary opportunities. A proficiency with using Python code will be required
- Aid in the creation and testing of the team’s automation and other code processing tools
- Classify and store characteristics of investment managers into StepStone’s proprietary database
- Transform and maintain integrity of data in StepStone’s database from a variety of sources
- Develop a general understanding of concepts and terminology within private market investments
Skills
- Possesses or in pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Information Systems, or a related field
- Demonstrated track record of academic success
- Entry level proficiency in Excel is required
- Basic familiarity of Python or other coding knowledge is required
- Extremely strong attention to detail to maintain data integrity
- Willingness to ask questions
- Relevant internships or work experience
- MySQL or other database experience preferred
- Power BI or other modeling concepts preferred
- Knowledge of investments and/or private markets
