Indirect Procurement Manager

About This Role  

The Indirect Procurement Manager for Carrier’s Commercial Services Data Center Business will play a pivotal role in ensuring operational efficiency and cost effectiveness by managing the procurement of vehicles, personal protective equipment (PPE), hand tools, and other items related to the operations of the field service business. This position is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships to support Carrier’s field service operations. The ideal candidate will leverage their procurement expertise to deliver optimal value, maintain compliance, and drive continuous improvement across indirect-spend categories.  

Job Description

  • Execute procurement strategies for data center needs including vehicles, personal Protective equipment, uniforms, hand tools, and large tools.

  • Purchase supplies as requested for data centers.

  • Ensure compliance with Carrier’s procurement policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes and tools, leveraging data analytics and best practices.

  • Own procurement to pay process including invoice, reconciliation, and payment to supplier.

  • Resolve quantity of supply discrepancies and vendor supply escalations.

  • Procure and disposition on-site materials in collaboration with the service manager.

  • Identify, evaluate, and propose suppliers, ensuring best value, quality, and compliance with Carrier’s standards and policies.

  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers, focusing on cost reduction and value creation, ensuring proper approvals from procurement and CCS.

  • Manage supplier performance, including conducting regular reviews and resolving issues as needed.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (operations, finance, safety, etc.) to understand business requirements and align procurement activities accordingly.

  • Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, spend analysis, and savings achievements to management.  

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.

  • 5+ years experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in indirect categories such as vehicles, PPE, and tools.

  • 3+ years of experience in supplier negotiation and contract management.  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.

  • Experience in commercial service businesses or field operations procurement.

  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements related to vehicles and PPE.

  • Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CPM, CIPS) is a plus.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

  • Experience with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is desirable.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency with procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
