Software Engineer III, Infrastructure, Spanner Analytics Federation

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in C++, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • Experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Experience designing and developing relational databases, database internals, query processing and query optimization.
  • Experience building transaction processing systems (OLTP) or larger scale analytics (OLAP).
  • Experience building data warehousing systems (e.g., Spark, BigQuery).
  • Experience in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.

The Spanner Analytics Federation team’s mission is to unify transactional and analytical workloads by combining the power of BigQuery and Spanner. This will allow real-time insights and serve through a unified offering. In this role, you will work with internal and external customers to ensure capabilities such as Spanner Data Boost, Spanner Federated Queries, and BigQuery Export to Spanner (Reverse ETL) meet their needs.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide on the available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues.
