Job Description
We are requesting these Graduate Assistantships to support our graduate programs, enhancing administrative support and departmental efficiency as well as student engagement and retention. The specific functions and duties of these graduate assistants would relate to:
- Assist faculty in the classroom (online and on ground) to enhance student interaction and engagement. This assistance might include working with students one-on-one, facilitating small group work, developing PPTs, Prezis or handouts, identifying and facilitating games or interactive activities, and proctoring examinations.
- Provide tutoring or coaching for students outside of class.
- Assist faculty in the course development process, to include researching and identifying resources that may be incorporated in the course.
- Develop and facilitate orientation experiences for new students.
- This support is particularly important for our large on campus enrollment.
- Student Support
- Provide support for international students (F1 Visas) on University campus. This support might include tutoring, mentoring, coaching, and assisting international students as they transition to the new culture of graduate level academics.
- Assist students in identifying and utilizing student services and resources such as career services, internships, tutoring, or the Writing Center.
- Support student organizations.
- Advise staff and faculty about graduate student needs and concerns.
- Research & Scholarly Activities
- Assist faculty in conducting research for conferences, presentations, publications and other scholarly activities.
- Develop PPTs or Prezis for conference presentations
- Reporting & Analysis
- Assist staff in developing and maintaining reports to support program assessment and accreditation.
- Assist staff in analyzing and evaluating student enrollment and faculty evaluation reports.
- Collect and compile data related to graduates and career choices.
- Create and maintain an alumni database.
- Maintain the graduate handbook, policies and procedures.
- Programming & Event Planning
- Maintain, edit, and coordinate dissemination of newsletters and other marketing and communication pieces for graduate programs.
- Manage internship processes and protocols for graduate students.
- Assist with other program development, event planning, and assessment opportunities.
