Role Overview

Customer Service Representatives are the frontline contact for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. You will provide timely and accurate customer service utilizing good communication skills, computer skills, and on-the-job training.  You will assist Hoosiers with a broad scope of BMV needs. 

This position operates on a fully remote schedule.  You will be required to meet minimum internet speed requirements, including upload and download speeds. During the onboarding and orientation process, you will be required to report to a BMV location near you to collect the necessary equipment. Please note that there is always the potential for required in-office hours if need arises.  

Salary

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $15.17 an hour.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are:

  • Respond to incoming phone calls, live chats, and emails in a timely fashion while interpreting procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Research, identify, evaluate, and escalate all relevant data to handle inquiries and complaints utilizing BMV’s available resources.
  • Take ownership of each interaction to respond effectively, efficiently and with accuracy to provide a positive experience for every interaction.
  • Identify and refer eligible customers to programs and/or services based on needs or eligibility.
  • Demonstrate excellent and efficient customer service skills with every customer.

What You'll Need for Success:

Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

  • Top-notch communication skills.
  • A high level of critical thinking and the ability to troubleshoot.
  • Ability to process cash and card transactions.
  • Ability to travel up to 20 percent of the time to branch. locations, training, or branch-related community activities.
  • Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

A degree is not required. However, a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) and customer service experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
