Job Overview

This is a complex, skilled, and responsible role that involves assisting utilities' customers in planning and accessing a variety of services, as well as coordinating operational customer service activities. As a Customer Service Representative at arenaflex, you will be the primary contact for customers, answering queries, resolving issues, and providing expert advice and guidance. You will work under limited supervision, using your initiative and judgment to make decisions and take actions that meet the needs of our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for customers, answering queries, resolving issues, and providing expert advice and guidance via phone, mail, or in-person.
  • Analyze income and expense information to provide tailored solutions for individual customers.
  • Process utility payments, deposits, permits, and services, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Handle delinquent accounts and resolve customer account disputes in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain customer accounts, ensuring that all information is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Assist in emergency storm situations, providing support for service restoration and ensuring that customers receive the help they need.
  • Apply policies and procedures pertaining to Utilities Customer Service Operations, ensuring that all actions are compliant and effective.
  • Obtain and enter customer service information into a customer information system, ensuring that all data is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Provide customer service training to new employees, sharing your expertise and helping to develop the skills of our team.
  • Maintain department records, ensuring that all information is accurate, complete, and easily accessible.
  • Participate in meetings and prepare reports as requested, contributing to the development of our team and the success of our organization.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalently diploma, plus three years of progressively responsible experience in public contact, customer service relations, retail, banking, call centers, or utilities.
  • An Associate degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration, public administration, public relations, or a related field, plus one year of experience in public contact, customer service relations, retail, banking, call centers, or utilities.
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration, public administration, public relations, or a related field.
  • Thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures, business English, spelling, and commercial arithmetic.
  • Basic knowledge of the utility services industry, arenaflex operations, and applicable ordinances, policies, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of computers and relevant software, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, and SAP.
  • Ability and willingness to work with customers on a daily basis, remaining composed in stressful encounters and providing exceptional service.
  • Ability and willingness to remain flexible, positive, and productive in a changing environment, adapting to new challenges and opportunities as they arise.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the essential qualifications, the following preferred qualifications will be considered:

  • Experience working in a utility services environment, with knowledge of utility billing and records policies and procedures.
  • Experience working in a customer-facing role, with a proven track record of providing exceptional service and building strong relationships with customers.
  • Knowledge of credit and collections procedures and regulations, with experience handling delinquent accounts and resolving customer disputes.
  • Experience working with government services, with knowledge of applicable ordinances, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages, with fluency in languages relevant to our customer base.
