Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Technical Writing and Publishing Manager to lead our Flight Technical Statistics (FTI) team in creating, editing, and publishing flight-critical documents. As a Technical Writing and Publishing Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of senior technical writers, developing and implementing content management systems, and ensuring regulatory compliance and SSI requirements are met. Key Responsibilities

Lead a team of senior technical writers responsible for writing, editing, and publishing flight-critical documents, including Flight Manuals, related documents, and checklists. Ensure all documents meet regulatory compliance and SSI requirements and are published on time and by departmental regulations and procedures. Develop and implement content management systems, including XML-based software and department strategies. Provide supervisory support to and back up the FTI team, including mentoring technical writers and providing OJT of the XML-based software and department strategies. Assign projects to direct reports based on workload and unique skills. Participate in safety risk assessments, as needed. Develop and maintain implementation timelines and ensure projects stay within scope, budget, and schedule. Coordinate guide revision releases with Technical Writers, Fleet Technical Managers, and other Flight standards SMEs, as well as other departments. Correspond with FAA CMO on matters pertaining to products produced by FTI. Provide project oversight, support, design entry, assessment, validation/acceptance testing, and user training for new authoring systems and systems. Oversees and coordinates changes to publishing device's style sheets and schema to meet book layout requirements. Accountable for archiving all documents by United's Retention policy.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent. 4 years of experience in Technical Writing/Publishing, XML-based publishing software systems. 4 years of experience in the aviation-related industry, technical writing/publishing. Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.A. for any agency without sponsorship. Successful completion of the interview is required to fulfill the task qualification. Reliable, punctual attendance is an important feature of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

BS in Aviation Management, Business, or Computer Technology. Experience in the Flight Operations department and/or main aviation-associated documentation. Understanding of FARs, aviation terminology, and airline operations. Assignment management and budget are revealed in Information on content management systems. Experience with Adobe Acrobat, MS Office, and MS SharePoint.
