Position Summary Cognizant is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Virtual Law Firm Partner specializing in Privacy & Data Protection to join our expanding remote legal team. This is a fully remote position, offering the opportunity to work from anywhere in the USA. As a Partner, you will play a pivotal role in advising clients on a wide range of privacy and data protection matters, including compliance with global privacy laws and regulations. You will also contribute to the growth and development of our virtual law firm practice.

Key Responsibilities

Provide expert legal advice and guidance to clients on privacy and data protection laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, and other relevant legislation. Develop and implement comprehensive privacy programs for clients, including data mapping, privacy policies, procedures, and training materials. Conduct privacy risk assessments and audits to identify areas of potential non-compliance. Negotiate and draft data processing agreements, privacy notices, and other privacy-related contracts. Advise clients on data breach incident response and notification obligations. Monitor and analyze emerging privacy laws and regulations, and provide updates to clients and internal stakeholders. Contribute to thought leadership initiatives, such as writing articles, presenting webinars, and participating in industry events. Collaborate with other members of the legal team and other Cognizant business units to provide integrated solutions to clients. Develop and maintain strong client relationships. Contribute to the growth and profitability of the virtual law firm practice.

Required Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state. Minimum of 8 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on privacy and data protection. In-depth knowledge of global privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, and other relevant legislation. Proven experience advising clients on a wide range of privacy and data protection matters. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Experience with remote collaboration tools, such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Slack. Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment. Technical Requirements To ensure a seamless remote work experience, the following technical requirements must be met: Dedicated home office space free from distractions. High-speed internet connection (minimum 50 Mbps download/10 Mbps upload). Reliable computer equipment (company-provided laptop). Webcam and microphone for video conferencing. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Comfortable working in Eastern Time (ET) zone for core collaboration hours. Desired Skills Privacy certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT. Experience with data security and cybersecurity matters. Experience in a virtual law firm or remote legal practice. Strong business development skills. Familiarity with project management methodologies. Compensation & Benefits The annual salary range for this fully remote Legal Virtual Law Firm Partner - Privacy & Data Protection position is $180,000 - $250,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
