Job Summary

As a Network Protection Examiner Understudy, you will work closely with our Incident Response Team to analyze and respond to cyber threats, develop quick reaction plans, and enhance our security posture. This is a part-time remote position, offering a competitive hourly rate of $25. Key Responsibilities

The Network Protection Examiner Understudy will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with business stakeholders to conduct needs analysis related to systems and business processes to develop high-quality technical solutions.
  • Ensuring solutions are aligned with internal tooling, business processes, and compliance with departmental standards.
  • Managing timelines for planning, coding, testing, and implementation to ensure solutions are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Serving as a resource to facilitate effective communication between business and IT teams.
  • Participating in system and acceptance testing.
  • Scope of work may vary depending on the team project.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
  • Fundamental knowledge of cybersecurity and risk management principles, theories, and practices is required.
  • Experience or exposure to Proofpoint PhishAlarm is preferred.
  • Experience or knowledge of ServiceNow Administration, Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) is preferred.
  • Essential knowledge of business analysis, process modeling, and improvement is preferred.
  • Major understanding of project management systems, including the ability to design, manage, and maintain a complex, organization-wide program is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with all levels within the organization, including both technical and non-technical stakeholders is preferred.
  • Fundamental knowledge of technical environment is required.
  • Openness to Agile philosophies is preferred.
  • Coursework or experience related to cybersecurity is preferred.
  • Ability to remain organized and manage multiple and simultaneous tasks under tight deadlines is required.
  • Past investigator entry-level position experience within the past year is preferred.
  • Experience resolving business issues in a capstone or case competition is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a culture that is open, direct, transparent, gracious, and empathetic.
  • Fast learner, self-motivated, team-oriented, with a sense of humor.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Experience working in a cybersecurity role, particularly in a network protection or incident response capacity.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks, regulations, and standards.
  • Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
  • Knowledge of cloud security, including AWS or Azure.
  • Experience with threat intelligence and hunting.
  • Familiarity with security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) tools.
