Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Kindergarten Teaching Assistant to support the classroom teacher and provide individualized instruction to students. The successful candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education, excellent communication skills, and a passion for working with young children. As a Kindergarten Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting students with instruction, maintaining a positive and focused classroom environment, and providing support to students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities

* Assist students with instruction under the direction of the classroom teacher

  • Assist teacher in maintaining a positive, focused classroom environment
  • Conduct small group instruction as directed by the teacher, with groups of students to provide literacy and math support
  • Conduct intervention groups
  • Conduct one-on-one instructional sessions as directed by the teacher, with students that need additional support
  • Reteach and review Fundations concepts
  • Support instruction during WINN (intervention/support) blocks
  • Monitor, assist, and review based on Lexia/ST platforms
  • Provide substitute coverage, as needed
  • Escort students from room to room
  • Toileting students as needed
  • Includes working with students regarding their general education and special education needs
  • Assist teaching staff in the implementation of IEP/504/SRBI plans
  • Supervise students while they are at recess and lunch
  • Copy materials for instructional purposes
  • Assist teacher in filing material and preparing all necessary paperwork
  • Alert teachers to problems that may be observed
  • Supervise students during assessments
  • Ensure classroom safety standards are met at all times

Essential Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

  • Experience working with young children, preferably in a kindergarten setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities
  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, as needed

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

  • Experience working with students with special needs
  • Knowledge of Fundations and Lexia/ST platforms
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills

  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, as needed

  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies
