Job Overview

The AmeriCorps Program Coordinator is the face of Reading Partners in elementary schools, responsible for leading the coordination, operations, and relationship development of our one-on-one tutoring programs. As a full-time AmeriCorps member, you will serve from October/November 2023 through June 2024 and must commit to a service term of 1,200+ hours. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full-time coordination and operations of Reading Partners' tutoring programs at a school partner, ensuring the program meets students' learning needs
  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations and schedule of Reading Partners' tutoring programs, managing competing priorities effectively
  • Provide ongoing tutoring to students, guiding and supporting them in their learning journeys
  • Manage student and tutor data records, tracking student progress and providing direct technical support to students and volunteers when using our online tutoring program
  • Forge and maintain positive relationships with students, families, tutors, and school staff, creating a welcoming tutoring environment
  • Lead family, student, and volunteer engagement support within your reading center, motivating students and managing student behavior
  • Guide, coach, and provide feedback and ongoing support to volunteer tutors, ensuring they have the resources and guidance needed to succeed

Essential Qualifications

  • Root your service in our core values, possessing a high school diploma or GED
  • Hold US Citizenship, Permanent Resident Status, or are a US National
  • Have not completed more than three (3) prior AmeriCorps or VISTA service terms
  • Understand this position is an AmeriCorps service commitment and are dedicated to successfully completing a full term of service
  • Pay strong attention to detail and manage competing priorities effectively
  • Are open to learning technology systems like Salesforce, Google Apps, and Zoom Conferencing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bonus points if you are an AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, or other national service alum/alumna
  • Experience volunteering with community-based or education programs is highly desirable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities
  • Passion for education, community development, and social justice, with a commitment to advancing equity and inclusion

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

We offer a competitive living allowance of $15,470.08 (paid twice per month, on the 7th and 22nd) and an education award of $4,826.50 after successfully completing your service term. You will also be eligible for a mid-year bonus of $375 and an end-of-year bonus of $2,500. Additionally, you will have access to public transportation reimbursement, CPR certification, medical, dental, and vision coverage at no monthly cost to you, and opportunities for networking with thousands of service-minded individuals.
