As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the autonomy to choose your assignments and work on your own schedule. This role is perfect for educators who are looking for a flexible yet fulfilling opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students. You'll be supported every step of the way by our dedicated team, including a personal consultant who will help you develop your skills and navigate your subbing journey.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
• Adapt to different classroom environments and teaching styles
• Manage classroom behavior and ensure a safe and respectful learning environment
• Deliver lesson plans and engage students in meaningful learning activities
• Communicate effectively with school staff, teachers, and administrators
• Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your skills

Essential Qualifications:

• Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
• NJ Substitute Credential
• Background check & TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this)
• Full COVID-19 vaccination
• Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
• A passion for education and putting students first
• An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role
• Special Education experience or certification
• Experience working with diverse student populations

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in technology, including educational software and platforms
