Key Responsibilities

• Providing excellent customer service by explaining policy coverage, claim status, and assisting with claim payments or other policy information to policyholders and/or interested third parties
• Engaging in heavy phone contact with policyholders, providers, and interested third parties to address their inquiries and concerns
• Processing policyholder requests from correspondence, phone calls, and emails in a timely and efficient manner
• Reviewing and maintaining new and revised procedures regarding policy information to ensure that you are always up-to-date on the latest developments
• Maintaining department standards for the number of calls, average handle time, and time management to ensure that our customers receive the best possible service

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

• A high school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred
• At least one year of office experience preferred; telecommunications experience is a plus
• A background in customer service and good phone skills are essential
• Excellent communication, both written and oral, and organization skills are required
• The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
• Excellent alpha and number recognition skills, as well as demonstrated mathematical abilities
• Basic PC skills and the ability to type at least 30 words per minute
• The ability to handle high-stress situations calmly and with tact and professionalism
• Strong decision-making skills with the ability to analyze situations and make logical conclusions

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:

• Life and Health insurance background and knowledge of insurance operations

Physical Requirements

This role requires heavy phone and PC usage, sitting for extended periods, and frequently reaching above shoulder level. You will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of productivity and focus.
