About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Big Data Engineer to join our dynamic team at blithequark. As a key member of our product engineering and delivery team, you'll have the opportunity to engineer, code, and deliver programming that drives our business forward. Key Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality software applications using programming languages such as Java, Python, or Scala
• Participate in code reviews and automated testing to ensure the highest standards of code quality and reliability
• Troubleshoot and optimize software components, identifying code defects and areas for improvement
• Enable the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across test, integration, and production environments
• Automate solutions in test or production environments to improve efficiency and scalability
• Scale applications based on demand projections to ensure seamless performance
• Lead a small team of engineers and inspire them to achieve their full potential
• Influence colleagues with innovative changes and enhancements by challenging the status quo and demonstrating risk-taking

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in software development and leading teams of engineers and scrum teams
• 3+ years of hands-on experience working with Guide Reduce, Hive, Spark (core, SQL, and PySpark)
• Strong understanding of Data Warehousing concepts and Distributed environments
• Proficiency in programming using Core Java or Python/Scala
• Expertise in Hadoop and Spark Architecture and its working principles
• Experience in writing and understanding complex SQL (Hive/PySpark-dataframes), optimizing joins while handling large amounts of data
• UNIX shell scripting skills
• Ability to design and develop advanced Data pipelines for batch and real-time data processing
• Proven ability to create and document technical and functional specifications and analyze software and system processing flows

Preferred Qualifications

To take your application to the next level, you'll ideally have:

• Knowledge of cloud platforms like GCP/AWS, building Microservices, and scalable solutions
• 3+ years of experience in designing and building solutions using Kafka streams or queues
• Experience with GitHub/Bitbucket and utilizing CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as HBase, Couchbase, or MongoDB
• Excellent technical and analytical skills
• Strong communication and project management abilities
